1st Anniversary Event Celebrations!

PLEASE NOTE OUR CHANGE OF VENUE to Venezia bar – on the opposite side of the river from the X Centre. You can drop off in front of the cafe.

Our 1st anniversary is coming up and what an amazing year it has been! We have increased numbers, made new friendships and started new projects.

To celebrate our achievements we will be having a great social event and sponsored walk – plus Sing Aphasia are performing two of their songs. And finally the Michelin star chef, Michael Caines, will speak on behalf of Exeter Foundation, as they generously funded our branded clothing.

Children from Wellington School will be helping out too- as we are their nominated UK charity for the year. The Stroke Association will be represented and welcomed.

Exciting times for the charity!

Festive Sing Aphasia performance

What a fantastic performance from our Festive Sing Aphasia group at our Christmas Lunch today.

The group has been practicing two carols with two part harmony over the past few weeks. Our singing leader, Sam, has given the group members such confidence in their abilities The end result was an amazing musical sound from all of us! Our Sing Aphasia group is starting up again in the New Year and welcomes newcomers.

Living with Aphasia’s celebrated it’s first Christmas meal with families and friends of the people with aphasia. Everyone enjoyed our delicious three course lunch at the Golf and Country Club

We certainly had a merry start to the Christmas season!

Volunteer Fair – getting involved.

Living with Aphasia was thrilled to join in with the Exeter University Volunteer Fair last week. Thank you Sam, our volunteer from last year, for helping us with the stall and spreading the word. Exeter University Volunteer Fair

We generated lots of interest from students who signed up to our “Volunteer Taster Day”. Students learnt about aphasia and how to create good conversations with people with aphasia using supported conversation techniques.

Afterwards they all stayed to chat to people with aphasia at our Drop In group. Tea and cake eating noted as essential requirements!

Look forward to welcoming our new volunteers – and big thanks you them all for getting involved with people with aphasia.

Fantastic news from Exeter Foundation

Living with Aphasia is delighted to announce the fantastic news that Exeter Foundation have donated money towards essential equipment and kit for our “Just Saying” aphasia awareness work.

Having branded kit and promotional material will enable us to get the word out about aphasia more successfully. Watch this space for our new equipment!

This will make a tremendous difference to the people living with aphasia in Exeter and beyond. Thank you Exeter Foundation and we look forward to working with you.
