Time has flown by over the last two years since we started as a charity! We’ve grown in numbers and have formed a real community of people who understand aphasia. Plus we now run 3 successful groups– our conversation drop in, singing and creative art sessions.
To celebrate we are having a 2nd year anniversary party to showcase all that we do for people with aphasia and their families. If you missed our art exhibition at the Phoenix you can see it again here. Plus we’ll have our Aphasia Choir performing for us. As always, we’ll have cake and refreshments too. Everyone’s welcome to come along.
It’s all happening on Tuesday 4th June at the X Centre, Commercial Rd, Exeter EX2 4AD from 2-4pm. Here’s to many more years!
Whoever would have thought that Lego could be used so creatively! One of our wonderful artist from Magic Carpet is holding a one off creative session for Living with Aphasia on Thursday 23rd May. We’ll be thinking about how our environment and city might look – what would our ideal future look like? How could we make a world that is good for people with aphasia! Sounds like a great idea!
We’re all about helping and having a good chat to make you feel good. We recently purchased an Ipad and uploaded photos of the things we are getting up to.
It’s been amazing how much we use it to share stories, learn about others and start off conversations.
For example, Andi found it helped him to understand what our charity has done in the past. He looked through our section on our raising awareness, fundraising and activity pages. Adam also found it helpful to know who everyone was and it helped him with finding the names of everybody. Ian found it useful to start off a chat with a new person to the group.
It’s been amazing how it’s got conversations going with people with aphasia!
