June is Aphasia Awareness month

June is Aphasia Awareness month and a great opportunity to spread the word about this frustratingly little known condition.

1 in 3 people who have a stroke will have aphasia and that means around 6,000 people in Devon will have this isolating communication difficulty. An Exeter University Dissertation Research on Aphasia recently found that only 34% of the local population were aware of aphasia. This has to change!

so…Living with Aphasia is launching a Twitter campaign for the month of June focusing on increasing awareness of Aphasia and the support that Living with Aphasia can provide for people in Devon.

Follow us on twitter @LivingAphasia with the hashtag #AphasiaAwarenesswhat is aphasia
